Rate of weight loss when using the Lipotrim programmes

Lipotrim Total Food Replacement Programme

(available only through pharmacies & healthcare professionals)

The rate of weight loss is steady and predictable. It is impossible for people who are complying with the diet not to lose weight. The body needs about 800 Calories just to keep the body temperature up.

In the first week the average weight loss is 7lbs, but can be considerably higher for some individuals. This first week is mainly comprised of large fluid losses from the utilization of body glycogen and dumping of oedema fluid.

In the subsequent weeks you can expect to lose in the region of:

  • men can expect to lose 3lb to 5lb of weight per week, which over the long term equates to a 1.5 stone weight loss per month
  • women can expect to lose 2lb to 4lb of weight per week, which over the long term equates to 1 stone weight loss per month

Lipotrim Maintenance Programme

(available through healthcare professionals and via the Lipotrim online shop)

The Lipotrim Maintenance Programme uses a combination of formula foods and conventional foods. It can be possible to lose in the region of 1lb to 2lb per week but the natural fluctuation of calorie intake on this programme can result in varying rates of weight loss.

The programme is also used to help maintain a steady weight.

Please contact us or your Lipotrim pharmacy for help and advice on how best to use the maintenance programme.

  • Hi,I’m new to lipotrim ,well started today. It says no mints, does that include toothpaste? I know it sounds stupid question to ask .

    • Hi Haley, as far as we are concerned knowledge is often the key to success which is why no question is “stupid”. Toothpaste is fine as is routine mouthwash. We do also supply PaperMints and CoolCaps through pharmacies and on our online shop

  • I haven’t seen a difference in my weight. I have been on the diet for 5 days now and the first few days I lost nearly 1kg but ive put it back on? Even though Im following the diet religiously. I struggle to drink water daily however I have been drinking 1litre atleast trying more and loads of green tea. Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong or what would boost my weight loss?

    • Thank you for choosing Lipotrim and for asking this question. The rate of weight loss is quite predictable; about a stone a month for females and about a stone a month for males. The very low calorie nature of the total food replacement programme (I presume this is the programme you are following – through your local pharmacy/GP) means so long as you are compliant, weigh loss is inevitable. Weight is not however lost uniformally, ie a 7 lb loss in a week is highly unlikely to show on the scales as a steady 1 lb each and every day.
You mention water. Make sure you are consuming the formulas made using water and the intake of fluids of 2 to 4 litres on top of this.
Make sure you are consuming the correct number of formulas each day with no other food at all, including no mints, gums or sprays.
Black tea and black coffee is allowed, but do not add sugar (artificial tablet sweeteners are oK) or whitener or milk or lemon.
We generally recommend not checking your weight during the week and concentrate on completing each day fully. The average losses will show at your weekly weight check.
If you require any further support or advice please call us on 0800 413 735 UK or 015255636 Ireland.
Above all else keep focused and occupied, and best of wishes for your week 1 weight check.

    • Thank you for your question. The weight loss using Lipotrim total food replacement is predictable (so long as the programme is followed correctly) with losses of about a stone a month for women and about a stone and a half a month for men. It is therefore likely that it will take in the region of 4 months to lose 4 stone for women, slightly quicker for men.

  • I wish you would use metric. It is a lot of work trying to work it all out. Please start using metric instead of imperial as your primary measurements as we are a metric country.

    • Thank you for the feedback. The majority of patients still request weight in Stone and Pounds which is why this unit of measure is mainly used in our literature. As a direct response to your request we will attempt to add more metric measurements in our literature whilst keeping the imperial units as standard. To further help we will be adding a new FAQ urgently with full conversion charts for weights, including pounds for those using that measure too.
